Adopt a Highway Clean-Up on May 14th from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM
Join STYP in helping to clean up our new Adopt a Highway location, Exit 70N westbound on Route 17, just behind Food and Fire!
Volunteers will meet in the Food and Fire parking lot at 9:00am. Forms, bags, reflective vests, and gloves will be provided for volunteers. Participants must fill out a form prior to participation (the day of is fine). Coffee and donuts will be available for everyone at the work site.

Volunteer with Ourspace at Rec Park on May 7 from 12:30 to 4:30 PM
OurSpace at Rec Park is an exciting opportunity to encourage our entire community to enjoy the historic Recreation Park in Binghamton, New York! OurSpace is revitalizing a 4 acre parcel of the City of Binghamton’s Recreation Park with a design that is fully adaptive and inviting for all members of our community. OurSpace’s unique design includes a new Adaptive Playground, a Tree Deck, Raised Garden Beds, Game Tables and Natural Play Areas.
On May 7th, construction of the adaptive playground will be well underway. Volunteers can help build and work the tents, amongst other things! Volunteers can sign up by choosing any of the shifts for any of the duties available on the site, by clicking here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0d44afa82da3fd0-playground. STYP will specifically be working the 12:30 – 4:30 shifts – but feel free to sign up to come early or stay later if you are interested! Meals will be provided at the end of your shift as a thank you for the dedication of your time
Please note – If you sign up as a builder, please bring your own tools, or borrow them from someone for the day if you can. 1st Quarterly Meeting & Mixer at the DoubleTree on May 5th at 6:00 PM
Please join us for our first quarterly meeting of the year at the DoubleTree by Hilton in the Serling Room. We will have a mixer immediately after in the River Bistro at the DoubleTree.

During the Quarterly Meeting on May 5th, STYP will be voting to make an amendment to the By-Laws to allow electronic voting in the annual elections. The purpose is to allow more members to participate in the voting process by allowing electronic voting in addition to the current process of mailing votes to the PO Box by mail.
A section on absentee voting will be integrated in the By-Laws as follows:
Absentee voting – A member may vote by absentee vote via sending a printed ballot to the STYP PO Box or via an electronic system approved by the nomination committee within 7 days of the election. As a minimum, the electronic system must verify that a person voting is an active member and only votes once.

Volunteer at Mac and Cheese Fest on April 28 from 4:30 to 9:30 PM
STYP is looking for volunteers to help with the first ever Mac & Cheese Fest, put on by the Binghamton Philharmonic! It will be held at the Holiday Inn Arena on Thursday, April 28, with shifts running from 4:30-7:00 and 7:00-9:30. Please sign up for a shift and duty of your interest! There are many duties to choose from, and volunteers may be asked to assist with other duties as needed, so please be ready to be flexible (like cooked macaroni!)

Wasn’t it the best when mom made you mac and cheese on a snowy day or when you made the blue box with your college roommates after studying all night? Well, we’re putting a spin on an American favorite by seeing who can create the BEST mac and cheese in the area. This will be a competition among your favorite restaurants and not to be missed!
Rescue Mission Shed Rehabilitation Project on April 17th from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
STYP will be helping the Binghamton Rescue Mission with the rehabilitation of their shed! The rehabilitation of the shed, which is located behind the Rescue Mission’s main residential building, will involve volunteers replacing gutters, drain spouts, and the door. Volunteers will also add a fresh coat of paint to the shed’s exterior, clean out the interior, and aid in wood removal and replacement. Items will be returned and reorganized within the shed upon completion.
STYP will need approximately 6-8 volunteers to help with this project, so if you are interested in participating, please contact Kyle Nedlik at kbnedlik@gmail.com.

Canstruction on April 3rd at 11:00 AM
On April 3rd, STYP is teaming up with Tioga State Bank for the Southern Tier’s 3rd Annual CANSTRUCTION!
Canstruction® is an international hunger-relief competition where architects, engineers, contractors, and community members compete to design and build giant structures made entirely from full cans of food. The structure we will be constructing this year is Binghamton’s own NYSEG Stadium.
The canned food used in each structure will be distributed throughout CHOW to emergency food programs throughout Broome County including food pantries, soup kitchens, and other community meal programs.

STYP & Lockheed Martin Networking with First Friday Art Walk on April 1st
Join STYP & Lockheed Martin MST Connect Employee Network for a networking event at Social on State before heading out at 7:30 to a guided Art Walk for First Friday! Appetizers will be provided and a board member from the Broome County Arts Council will speak to the group about the vibrant art community in the area.
