STYP Annual Election – Nominations are Open

Nominations are now open for the 2019 STYP Annual Elections.  If you are interested in serving on the Executive Committee, we would love to hear from you.

The STYP Annual Elections for officer and board member positions will be held during the Annual Meeting on January 24th at Thai Time.

The 2019 Candidate List will be updated for voters to review as nominations come in.

Positions that will be voted on include:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Executive Committee Board Members (9 Positions)

Nominations: To nominate yourself for a position and officially be on the ballot for the January 24th elections, send the following information to nominations@styp.org.

  • First and Last Name
  • Position for which you are running.
  • If you are running for an officer position, also indicate if you want to run for a board member position in the event that you do not win the officer position.
  • Vision for STYP / Reason for running / Related experience.  Please limit to 200 words.
  • Headshot photograph (optional)

The cut off to be included on the Annual Meeting ballot is 11:59PM on January 21st.

Nominations will also be accepted during the meeting.  These nominations will be treated as write-ins.

January 24th at 5:30 PM – Annual Meeting, Mixer, and Elections at Thai Time

Join STYP for our annual meeting, where we will elect our new board and will hear from YOU what you would like to see us do in 2019!

Refer to Annual Elections page for procedures on how to self nominate and official rules.

We will be in the basement meeting room section of the restaurant, and the meeting will begin at approximately 6:00pm. A social/networking mixer will follow. A buffet spread will be available for attendees, including:

– Drunken Noodles (Beef)
– Pineapple Curry (Chicken)
– Curry Puffs*
– Thai Crispy Rolls*
* Vegetarian
-Food offerings will not contain peanuts-

Additionally, raffles will be held for:
-Attendees who have joined or renewed their STYP membership for 2019 prior to the meeting
– Attendees who join or renew their membership at the meeting
Please bring a business card for your chance at our raffles! (We will have blank business cards to fill out for those who do not have business cards with them).

January 8th at 5:00 PM – Understanding Your Credit Score

Join STYP, RMA Empire Chapter, and NYSSCPA NextGen for “Understanding Your Credit Score”, sponsored by Labella Associates, and presented by Amy Chervinsky, Consumer Lending Manager and Assistant Vice President at Chemung Canal Trust Company.

Attendees do not need to have any financial background to attend, and will leave this presentation with relevant tips and tricks to try on their own!

From this presentation, attendees will learn:

– How to better understand a credit score, and where it comes from

– Information contained in a credit report,

– Why you need both your credit score AND your credit report.

– How to obtain a credit score and a credit report from the three major credit bureaus.

During the presentation, questions such as these will be answered:

– What is a good credit score?

– What are the biggest factors affecting my score?

– What is a fraud alert or credit freeze?

– How do I improve my credit score?

– Why does a credit score matter?

Presenter Bio:

Amy Chervinsky is the Consumer Lending Manager and Assistant Vice President at Chemung Canal Trust Company, and the Chair of the Women in Finance Committee of the Risk Management Association. Amy has ten years of experience in banking including both the business and personal loan side. Amy earned her MBA from Baker College Center for Graduate Studies and her Bachelors in Banking and Finance from the Pennsylvania College of Technology.

December 13th at 6:30 PM – Escape Room Outing at Xscapes

This event is SOLD OUT.

Join STYP on Thursday, December 13th, at 6:30PM for our group’s first ever Escape Room outing!  Event will be at Escapes on 135 East Frederick Street in Binghamton.

Working together alongside your fellow STYP colleagues, try your chance at escaping from the “Valley of the Kings” or “Twilight Zone” Escape Rooms before time runs out!

Valley of the Kings: 
Your archeological team’s quest is to unlock the secrets of the Pharaoh’s tomb and understand the significance in the positions of the three Great Pyramids of Giza. The Egyptian culture was sophisticated, powerful, and complex. Unlock many of it’s secrets in Valley of he Kings.

The Twilight Zone:
Your group of Twilight Zone fans has been given exclusive access to Rod Serling’s Cayuga Lake writer’s cottage. It is here that you will learn more about the man behind the show and his many other amazing accomplishments. Your journey into the realm will be a transformative experience. Sight, sound, mind, shadow, substance, things, ideas, and surprises are just beyond that opening door.

Cost:
$10 – STYP members
$20 – All other attendees
Must sign up on or before 12/10/2018

100% of your entry cost goes towards fundraising efforts for the Southern Tier Independence Center, whose mission it is to help people in our local community with various disabilities.

Important Information to Note:
– Signups will be limited to the first 16 people who register through the Paypal link above. Additionally, we can not accommodate late registrations or walk-ins for this event.
– For those who have signed up – you MUST arrive on time in order to participate. The venue does not allow for late starts.
– Which of the two Escape Rooms you will be participating in will be determined the day of the event once the entire group has arrived. If you have a preference, you may announce it then.

December 20th at 6:00 PM – Holiday Celebration at Remliks

Remliks

Join STYP for our annual Holiday Celebration at Remlik’s in the Kilmer Building’s beautiful atrium lobby. This annual event is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with old friends, while making new friends during the joyous holiday season. 

Complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be provided for all attendees to enjoy throughout the event.

November 21st at 5:30 PM – Thanksgiving Mixer at Number 5

Join STYP at Number 5 on the evening of November 21st for an opportunity to network and socialize amongst other local young professionals. Enjoy the casual company of friends at one of Binghamton’s premier restaurants. 

Our group will be situated in the lounge area on the first floor, near the back end of the bar.

Complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be available for all attendees throughout the evening.

We hope that you decide to begin your Thanksgiving celebrations a day early and join us!

November 8th at 6:00 PM – STYP Mixer at the Shop

Join STYP for a social/networking mixer at The Shop, on Washington Street in Downtown Binghamton. 

Several platters of hors d’oeuvres will be served for our new attendees and members to enjoy, and a special drink menu will be featured for our event!

Look for our group in the back lounge area of the restaurant.

October 24th at 6:00 PM – Mixer at 205 Dry

Join STYP for a mixer at Binghamton’s newest Speakeasy.

At the entrance, find the hidden doorknob in bookcase vestibule.  This door opens up into an authentic 1920s speakeasy that will make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time.

STYP will be at the main bar for some hand-crafted cocktails and elevated bar bites.

Title: Quality Management in a Historically Subjective Realm

Program Overview:

This presentation will address the Health Home Model, its current data outcomes, and how Encompass is working to infuse an increased level of measurability into all levels of the care management process as NYS prepares for its shift to value-based payments.

Presenter’s Biography:

Ms. Marsh is the Quality and Compliance Coordinator for Encompass Health Home. Her role in this capacity is strengthened by years of experience with community mental health for both adults and children. Her and her team are currently working in conjunction with NYS to improve both the quality and efficiency of care for Medicaid Recipients with chronic conditions across the state.

The dinner meeting will be held at TechWorks! – 321 Water Street in Binghamton, NY.

Networking and self-tours of TechWorks! will begin at 5:30 pm. Dinner will be at approximately 6:00 pm with the lecture beginning at approximately 7:00 pm.

Cost is $20 for general admission, including program and dinner – $10 for students & STYP members including dinner – $5 minimum venue cover charge for all other program attendees without dinner

Explore the vintage IBM 1401 computing system, see several Link Aviation flight simulators, observe the Link lunar lander command module simulator, watch the Universal Instruments printed circuit board “pick and place” component insertion machine in action, play the Link nickelodeon piano… and much, much more… with Southern Tier companies that represent the alphabet from “A to W.”

October 14th at 9:00 AM – River Bank Clean-up

Join STYP as we participate in the annual Broome County Riverbank Clean Up! 

Volunteers will work to pick up trash and beautify the riverbank in Port Dickinson, along the east bank of the Chenango River near Port Dickinson Park. We will meet at Port Dickinson Park in the parking lot at 9:00am. Clean-up supplies such as bags, gloves, and garbage pickers will be provided.
