Holiday Party at Remlik’s Grille & Oyster Bar
Join Southern Tier Young Professionals for a holiday party at Remlik’s Grille & Oyster Bar on Monday, December 22, 2025 from 6-9 PM. To celebrate, we’ll have a gift raffle and an optional white elephant gift exchange. Enjoy free, on-site parking will be available at Remlik’s!
All attendees are eligible for the gift raffle. Those who sign up for membership between now and the party will receive additional entries.
For the white elephant gift exchange, there is a $20 maximum. Bring something that you would want. Bonus raffle entry if it’s from a local, small business!

Geminids meteor shower event
Join Southern Tier Young Professionals to view the Geminids meteor shower at Kopernik Observatory & Science Center on Friday, December 12, 2025 from 7-9 PM! The Geminds are one of the best meteor showers of the year. Though the meteors will appear to come out of the constellation Gemini, the meteors will be visible throughout the sky. The moon will be in a Waning Crescent phase, allowing meteor shower visibility. Jupiter and Saturn will also be visible in the sky!

CHOW volunteer event
Join Southern Tier Young Professionals as we help our community by packing and sorting food at CHOW®, a grassroots food recovery/distribution organization that feeds the food insecure of Broome County free of charge.

Want to dramatically improve personal and business relationships? Increase job performance and career growth? Transform the way you communicate, verbally and non-verbally, and gain more awareness of your feelings, as well as those of others? Emotional intelligence (EI) greatly impacts these areas!
Join Southern Tier Young Professionals and Binghamton University Professional Staff Senate as we welcome back Richard Orth for Part 2 of the Growing Emotional Intelligence through Constructive Communications on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 from 5:30-8:30 PM. Attendance to Part 1 is not required to attend Part 2 (there are no prerequisites).
Part 2 reinforces and expands EI concepts that were introduced in “Foundational Dimensions of Constructive Communications” of Part 1. We will explore additional facets of constructive communication by first considering the characteristics of shared team values and their impact on sustainable success. We will next examine “blind spots” and “masks” that can affect interpersonal relationships. Lastly, we will learn and apply a six-step Constructive Conversation Process for giving and receiving feedback and for resolving interpersonal conflicts in a constructive manner.

Richard “Dick” Orth is a seasoned, community mediator and conflict coach with ACCORD – A Center for Dispute Resolution and is a national and international leadership trainer. To give back, Richard volunteers in his community, working with several non-profit organizations.
